Kryeministri Sali Berisha merr çmimin më të lartë “Eisenhower Medallion” të People to People International

Organizata People to People International njofton se, Kryeministri i Shqipërisë, Shkëlqesia e Tij Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha, është fituesi i çmimit ndërkombëtar “Eisenhower Medallion”.
Ky çmim prestigjioz është krijuar për nder të ish -Presidentit të 34 të SHBA-ve, Dight D. Eisenhower, themelues i People to People International, ligjvënës, burrë shteti, komandanti i forcave Aleate gjate luftës së dytë botërore, strateg ushtarak, komandanti suprem i forcave te NATO-s. Ky cmim u jepet çdo vit personaliteteve të shquara, me famë botërore, të cilët kanë dhënë një kontribut të jashtëzakonshëm në procesin e paqes në botë.
Presidentja e kësaj organizate, në letrën e saj drejtuar Kryeministrit të Shqipërisë thekson: “Unë personalisht kam qenë dëshmitare e kontributit që ju keni dhënë për krjimin e një klime paqësore mes Shqipërisë, vendeve të rajonit dhe komunitetit global, ndaj Ju konsideroj Ju si personalitetin e vetëm për të fituar këtë çmim”.
Disa prej personaliteteve që kanë fituar këtë çmim ndër vite janë: Nënë Tereza – 1988; Kryeministri Yitzhak Rabin – 1996 (pas vdekjes); Presidenti Jimmy Carter; Organizata Save the Children – 1998; Shkëlqesia e Tij Papa Gjon Pali i Dytë, Ish-presidentet e SHBA-ve Bush Senior, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan etj.
Në pamundësi për të marrë pjesë vetë Kryeministri për shkak të angazhimeve që burojnë nga rizgjedhja e Tij në këtë detyrë në zgjedhjet e datës 28 qershor 2009, çmimi do t’i dorëzohet në emër të Tij, Zonjës Liri Berisha, e shoqëruar nga Zv/Ministrja e Punevë të Jashtme Znj.Edith Harxhi në Las Vegas, në takimin e përvitshëm të People to People International, ku pritet të marrin pjesë liderë dhe personalitete nga vende të ndryshme të botës.
Diçka mbi People to People International
Qëllimi i People to People International është të promovojë mirëkuptim dhe miqësi nëpërmjet aktiviteteve edukative, kulturore dhe humanitare duke përfshirë shkëmbimin e drejtpërdrejtë të ideve dhe eksperiencave të njerëzve nga vende dhe kultura të ndryshme.
People to People International ka në fokusin e vet rritjen e komunikimit ndërkulturor brenda çdo komuniteti, si dhe ndërmjet komuniteteve dhe kombeve të ndryshme. Toleranca dhe mirëkuptimi i përbashkët janë tema qendore. Edhe pse një organizatë jo-politike, People to People International mbështet vlerat dhe synimet bazë të themeluesit të saj, Presidentit Dwight D. Eisenhoëer, i cili e krijoi këtë organizatë, më 11 Shtator 1956.

Prime Minister Sali Berisha is the recipient of the highest award of People to People International, the “Eisenhower Medallion”.
People to People International announces that the Prime Minister of Albania , His Excellency, Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha is the winner of the international award “ Eisenhower Medallion”.
This prestigious award is established in the honor of the 34th President of the United States of America , Dwight D. Eisenhower, founder of People to People International, lawmaker, politician, commander of Allied Forces during the Second World War, military strategist, commander in chief of NATO forces. The award is given annually to distinguished and world famous personalities, who have greatly contributed towards world peace.
In her letter sent to the Prime Minister of Albania, the President of this organization says: “I personally have been a witness to the contribution that you have given for the creation of a peaceful climate between Albania , the region and the global community, therefore I consider You as the sole personality to win this award”.
Among the recipients of PTPI's most prestigious award, the Eisenhower Medallion, are Mother Teresa - 1988; Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin - 1996 (posthumously); President Anwar el Sadat - 1996 (posthumously); Save the Children - 1998; Mikhail Gorbachev, His Grace Pope John Paul II, Former President of the USA Bush Senior, Jimmy Carter, Ronal Reagan, etc.
Due to his obligation as he was reelected in that post in the last national election of Albania on June 28, 2009 the Prime Minister Berisha as will not be able to attend the ceremony. Therefore the award will be given to his wife, Mrs. Liri Berisha accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Albania, Ms Edith Harxhi, in Las Vegas , on September 4, 2009 during the annual meeting of People to people International where other leaders and dignitaries from various countries of the world will take place.

People to People International is dedicated to enhancing cross-cultural communication within each community, and across communities and nations. Tolerance and mutual understanding are central themes. While not a partisan or political institution, PTPI supports the basic values and goals of its founder, President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who founded this organization on September 11, 1956.
